Tobe Turned 6!!!

On May 29 Tobe turned 6 years old. He feels so big now and love to tell people he's 6:) We planned to go to the splash park but it was super cold this day so we grabbed our jackets and played on the playground at the park. I brought a couple of games as well.
Pin the nose on the clown.

Theo joined us and Grandma Jeanne and Grandpa Randy were in town too!!

Happy 6th Birthday Tobe!!!

Exciting News...and such!!

Well before I begin, I just have to say how excited the Indiana members of the church are to be getting a temple here in Indiana!!!! Over the weekend we had our General Conference for our church, which is where we get to watch church (8 hours of it to be exact) in our jammies and hear our prophet, Thomas S. Monson speak the words of our Heavenly Father.

Back to the temple. The nearest temple is in Louisville Kentucky. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to get there and while I know there are some who travel even longer, being from Utah (where there are 15 temples alone), it seems like a trek. It will be so nice to have one close.

This weekend we also got to attend the baptism of a convert to the church. His name is Paul Hodge and he became interested in the church when the missionaries knocked on his door. He's been learning, reading, and praying ever since and after many long months, finally entered the waters of baptism. The missionaries cried and embraced as did many of us ward members. It was cool!!!

Before conference on Sunday we went on a little nature walk with the kids. (boy do I miss the mountains) The kids collected all sorts of stuff and we came home and made crafts with our loot.

We gathered these sticks and made this spooky Halloween tree.

Yesterday was Tobe's last day of soccer. He really enjoyed the idea of soccer. He never argued to go to soccer. He loved his soccer coach and his soccer coach loved him. But he never did get into the game. You could usually find him staring at the ceiling, waddling around, and moving his arms as if he were running. It was fun to watch and I think it was good for him. We plan to sign him up again in January.

Today I had sewing group and these are my new additions to my Halloween decorations:)

So there a little of what we've been up to lately. We are excited to take a break from extra curricular activities for a while. Jane's almost finished with soccer. We are going to continue piano and come January we'll get back into the madness. But for now, we will be a lot less busy which will be nice.

Finally--A New Post!!! Sept. 2010

Yes, we are alive. Yes, we are busy. Other than the usual (young kids, school, tedious homework, soccer, piano, practicing, Young Women's, HP meetings, Brett working oodles of extra hours) we have been busy with some FUN things:)

Tobe's Room
We redid Tobe's room over the Labor Day weekend. It's been on our "to do" list for a while now so on a whim, with little planning, we went for it. All 4 walls used to be a very light baby/sky blue.

So we painted most of the walls a dark tan,

we added a chalk board (with chalkboard paint) to one wall,

and did a wainscot on the main wall of the room.

And here it is:

Tobe loves the shelf to put all of his cars.

PlayGroup
I have put the kids in another playgroup this year. This time with boys and girls and with Aly:) The first day was eerie. I didn't like how quiet it was in my house with all 3 kids gone. It's a weird feeling. I didn't know how to best use my time so I took a big fat nap:) It is definitely something I will get used to.

Last Thursday it was at my house. I noticed that the boys did their own thing:

and the girls did theirs:

So silly!!!

Apple Orchard
We went to Tuttle's Apple Orchard with a bunch of little preschoolers from the ward. I only had Aly with me so get ready for a bunch of pictures of---ALY!!!

Aly loves getting mom all to herself. Poor Jane doesn't remember having mom all to herself. Tobe really could care less; he's a boy!!

We also had my friend Kelli visit from Alabama and I've been up to a few sewing projects with my sewing friends (pictures to come).

That's all for now. We are trying to enjoy this beautiful fall weather, so we are outside a lot. I usually love this time of year (Halloween is my favorite holiday) but I'm just not ready to say good-bye to summer. Maybe it's because the winters here are so dreadful. So I will enjoy the sunshine as long as I can.

Let's Try This Again.....First Day of School 2010

Jane was feeling a little better last night and was able to keep her dinner down. So since she was feeling better and wasn't contagious, she got to go to school this morning. Yay!!

Tobe spilled his breakfast on his outfit this morning and since I made him change his clothes, he threw a fit. When he gets into his fits, it's usually a downward spiral. He did not want to go to school this morning.

So the bus left and Tobe stayed...sigh!!!

I took him home and told him if he stayed home from school he couldn't watch TV or do anything fun because school is where he was supposed to be. Then I reminded him of a BIG boy who got on the bus all by himself yesterday, and had so much fun at school.....

(first day of school-after school)

.....and then we drove him to school:)

First Day of School 2010

I have been looking forward to this day for a very long time. Not because 2 of my kids will be in school which is fabulous:) but because it means my little kids are growing up and I love to see them succeed. When my mom was sick she mentioned that she was sad that she won't be here to watch Tobe go to kindergarten. As I sent my little boy alone on the bus this morning, I sent a little prayer up to heaven that she'd be with him today.
Jane caught a flu bug on Monday night. After many attempts, the BRAT diet, prayers, pleads--she's still sick. She had to stay home on her first day of school:( It was heart wrenching watching Tobe get on the bus and then watching Jane wave good-bye to all her friends and her brother as the bus drove away.
Thus is life!! Now (hopefully) I'll just have to post again tomorrow of Jane's first day of school:)

Tobe DID NOT want his badge pinned to his clothes. So we pinned it to the strap of his backpack and he was all good to go. He's so silly!!

Walking to the bus stop.

Waiting in line to get on the bus

Trying to cut in line:)

and he's off!!!

My little boy is all growed up!!!
