A Kiss for the Cure

As many of you know I have tried EVERYTHING to potty train my 4, yes 4 year old.  She is so stubborn and so am I.  That makes for a bad match and a year and a half of potty training.  I called for help some time ago in which I received great advice from Becky.  Her article taught me to be more patient, however unfortunately didn't cure Jane from her desire to pee her pants.
I was talking to an acquaintance of mine and she gave me an idea that is ingenious.  As she potty trained her boys she focused more on them staying dry rather than actually going potty.  As I though about this I realized isn't that the goal?  To stay dry?  I know Jane can go potty she just has a hard time staying dry (aka pees her pants on a regular basis).  So we gave it a try (hey I'll try anything) and it has worked.  Every time she uses the potty I check her pants and if they are dry, she gets a hershey kiss.  No more asking her to use the potty, no more battles to use the potty.  It's all up to her.  All I am responsible for now is making sure she deserves a kiss.  And she has deserved many.
I won't jinks myself and say that she is totally trained yet but I bought all the Valentines Kisses that were on sale so they will last a while and by golly she better be trained after 5 bags of kisses or else I will just die.  Cross your fingers that this is the cure.
I put this on here for any of you who have the same struggle or know someone who does.  It can be so hard and challenging.

Great idea, it focuses on the positive which usually works. I have one more to go with potty training and it is a while away thank goodness!
