HELP!!!

I have been potty training Jane since August of 2006. She is 4 now and still wets her pants at least once a day. She never goes potty without me asking her and it is always a fight when I do ask her. Every time I look for advice on the internet it always refers to starting the process not failure to succeed.
I have tried everything. We have done the whole potty chart with rewards twice, we've gone back to diapers, we have disciplined with time out, going to bed early, and even cold showers. I am at a loss and I write this as she is upstairs in her room asleep with no pants on because she peed and then wanted to sit on my lap and I lost it. I said she could no longer wear panties and pants if she is just going to pee in them. I feel so bad but I don't know what else to do.
Please Help!!!

I know-you've tried EVERYTHING. I like the no pant/panties idea. I'll brainstorm and see what I can think of. Have you talked to your pediatrician?

I've got it! My neighbor gave me a 4 page report on this subject. I'll scan it in an email it to you tomorrow...it's full of great things. I think the main thing is to be firm and consistent...no more going back to diapers.
What a pain, I HATE potty training! Hang in there and good luck

Oh Amanda!! What a mess. I tried potty training Reid the other day, and he didn't do a bad job, I just wasn't willing to watch him like a hawk every second. I wish I had some advice, but I have one kid who is two. I have not been through this yet. Good luck though... :0(

Audrey still sometimes has accidents too and I have had moments exactly like those you described. It is so frustrating. Not too long ago she went on the floor of the nursery at church. I was so angry and embarrassed. I'm sorry I don't have any advice either. Just know you are not alone!

I am so sorry, Amanda! Potty training is the pits, especially if you've been doing it for over a year! YIKES! Is Jane in preschool? The reason I ask is because what I started doing with Abby is setting the timer for about every hour and a half after I kinda figured out how often she usually needed to go. We went in there and she would have to try and go...if she didn't go then we went back in about 10 minutes later to try again. If she didn't go, then we'd wait 10 minutes and try again. She would usually go by the 2nd try & sometimes on the first. It was a pain because we were pretty much confined to the house for a week - with just very short outings if necessary. It did work though...I would also give her a couple m&m candies when she would go...and if she went #2 (hallelujah) then she could have a hershey kiss. This worked pretty well too. Another friend gave me the idea. Also - I had to stop the pull-ups (as much as I hated to)cause she knew she could go in those like a diaper. She only wore one at night. Setting the timer was helpful though. It really worked...it was a pain, but it was worth it. I hope this helps....

We tried training Avalyn for a year, before something worked for us. What helped with Avalyn, was going to preschool. After 2 days of being in a diaper and seeing the other kids not wearing diapers. She wanted to go on the potty and she has had only 3 peepee accidents in 1 year. Briley starts preschool next fall, so I'm waiting to see if it works with her too.
