Inspired or Not...This Is My Story

I have made it to my first goal at losing weight.  For journal purposes I wanted to document my success so I don't forget how I got here.  Read on if you like....

Disclaimer: Do not be offended if you weigh more than I did or do and do not be disgusted of you weigh less....this is MY story. (My BMI for a healthy body at my height is 122-140 lbs.  Overweight goes up to 171 lbs. and Obese starts at 172 lbs.)

December 2001- I weighed 120 when I got married.
February 2003- I weighed 135 when I got pregnant with Jane. (Yep I gained the newlywed 15:)
After having Jane and Tobe- I hovered around 160.  I was ok with this; after all "I was just going to get pregnant again".
July 2007-in my last month of pregnancy with Aly I was pushing 200 lbs. I was miserable and could hardly move let alone chase 2 young kids.
July 26, 2007-I went to deliver Aly and they asked my weight.  I had kept it a secret from Brett (who weighs 145 on a good day) the whole pregnancy and I was mortified to tell the nurse in front of Brett.  I reluctantly said, "I think 195:("
August 6, 2007- I began Weight Watchers with a good friend Jenna.  She had started it when she had her 3rd child and had been successful so I was inspired.  I weighed 181 lbs. (Aly was 8lbs. 14 oz. so I really had only lost about 6 lbs since I had her) I lost 6 lbs. in the first week of weight watchers so I was hooked.
September 4 2007- I went to my 6 week check up and realized for my BMI I was obese...yep obese!!
September 2007-I plateau at 169 for 3 weeks.
October 2007- I began walking with Kadee (a good friend in my ward.  I owe most of my success to her)  We walked 2.8 miles (45 min) 5 days a week throughout the winter.  Yes it was cold but it was worth it and it helps to have someone to go with.
November 2007-I got to the 150's (bye bye size 14)
December 2007-I was happy to maintain in the 150's throughout the holidays.
January 2008-toward the middle of January I got to the 140's.  I was so close to my goal so soon that I slacked and stayed at 148 until March. (bye bye size 12)
March 2008-I began running.  We run 3.1 miles 3 times a week and walk the other 2 days.  I am training for a 10k and decided to start with a 5k (which I will run April 26 and I feel ready:)
April 17 2008- I saw my goal:):)  I weighed myself and I am 140.0.  I decided to push to 135 though because that is how much I weighed when I got pregnant with Jane.

I still have a lot of toning to do and a little bit of weight to lose by Aly's birthday but I am happy with my success.  I owe a lot of it to Jenna and Kadee but it was my feet that were walking and running and it is my tummy that was hungry so I am proud of myself.
It really wasn't that hard.  It helps to have a running partner.  No matter how cold it is or how tired you are, you get out there when someone is waiting.
And it helped to do the diet with a friend.  We share recipes and good days as well as the bad days when we binge.
For me it is a life long process.  I will never stay healthy without constant work but it is worth it.  I feel good and can actually get out and play with my kids without getting tired and winded.

...to be continued!!

Wow. I want more details because I still struggle daily with this. I still have so much to lose. So how do you eat? Did you just cut portions or did you avoid sweets? It is seriously the hardest thing to do, congratulations, it is a huge accomplishment!

I am really happy for you! You have just set goals for yourself and just followed through. Such a simple thing, but really hard to do. Even though this is such a personal post, I bet it feels great to say it loud and proud.

Great Job!! Good luck with the 5k!

Congratulations! I am so glad we are doing this together, although I still have a ways to go. You inspire me and having you do it with me has really helped. I can't wait until I get to my "Goal Weight Post".

I can't believe your story. It sounds like mine, without the running with a friend. I have lost 10 pounds with WeightWatchers and this week alone, I lost 2.8 pounds. I started doing pilates/yoga conditioning, and something clicked. You are inspired me to continue on with Weight Watchers. Thanks Amanda. You are my hero.

That really is such an accomplishment. It is so hard to stay on task with eating right and exercising, it really is a life long commitment. You do look amazing! Congratulations!

Congrats!! You lookd great! I have to agree with you, when you are working out and healthy you can do anything. It doesn't matter how heavy or skinny you are, if you aren't working out and eating healthy, none of it means anything!! Good luck on your run. I have taken a break from working out because we are doing some infertiltiy stuff and I have to take it easy! I am not liking not being able to run!! Again congrats and you are a totaly inspiration!!

Good job! I am so impressed. You look fantastic. I totally agree with you about having a buddy. Whenever I am consistently exercising it is because I have someone going with me.
