Last Sunday my dad divided all of my mom's old Christmas decorations among us 6 kids. It was hard for me to remember over the phone what was being given. The one thing that I did remember was her Tree Skirt. I remember many nights laying by the Christmas Tree admiring ALL my presents and looking at this homemade Tree Skirt. I would try to count all the candy canes, christmas trees, gingerbread men, snowmen, etc. etc. that was in the pattern. Weird--I know!! But when I heard that it was in the pile, I had to have it. My sister sent it out right away (along with the rest of my loot) and Jane hasn't put it down since. She wears it as a dance skirt. I keep telling her to be real careful because it is special to me. I hope someday it is just as special to her.

For a ward Christmas party, we all had to wear a Christmas Tree skirt at our costume. I can't remember the song we used (instrumental), but I know someone did a dance to "I Hate Christmas". Mom had the best ideas.
I am glad you are enjoying your new "special" Christmas decorations. It was hard for Dad to let them go, but so nice that he let us have them.
Did you know as quilters, we all got together and made the Christmas tree skirts together at your mom's house? Then we had lunch. We all still use our old fashioned tree skirts. Awesome.
I don't know why, but this post made me a little teary. Jane looks so sweet twirling around in that tree skirt. I love that you let her play in it, even though it is so special to you. That makes it even more extraordinary, in my eyes. I am glad you now have it as your own treasure. Have a great Friday.
I'm with Alyssa! That is such a sweet way to remember your Mom! You'll get those memories each year as you unpack that skirt!
I agree with Becky too. I love that Jane loves dancing in it, that's darling!
My favorite part of decorating the Christmas tree was wearing the skirt. I had totally forgotten about that memory until you shared these pictures.
Thanks
Oh my gosh memories came flooding back to me! I totally used to do that with my moms tree skirt!! I love it! The twirl is the best part!!
Super, dooper, cute family pictures! I hadn't seen them yet and they turned out great.
Jane looks cute twirling the tree skirt too :)
I love the story that goes along with the tree skirt. What a great memory.
I love this post. And the pictures are so adorable. It looks like she already loves the skirt. :)
I used to do the same thing with my mothers tree skirt as a kid.
I'm sure someday it will be special to her. How nice to have a little bit of your mother in your home for Christmas.
