It's All About Perspective

If you would have told me 2 weeks ago that my mom had a year to live I would have fallen apart. Well considering that I have already done that, hearing the news today brought me joy. My mom saw her doctor today and he validated the fact that she has the worst kind of cancer and it is a stage IV. They can't find the source but since it has already spread it doesn't matter.
However there is a new study coming out in 2 weeks that will hopefully shrink the tumors and prolong her life. It is in a pill form and she won't have to take chemotherapy.
They gave her at least one year to live. Again, 2 weeks ago I would have crumbled but since I've been feeling the panic of maybe only weeks or months...I can breathe a little easier now.
She is still so positive and we are very happy that we have more time.
Thanks for the prayers, keep them coming:)

Wow! At least a year...that is great news! That is awesome that she will be able to try taking this new pill instead of going through chemo. I'll call again soon. Enjoy your Mother's Day together. :)

You have such a great attitude! I think being and remaining positive is soooo very important. Always remember that the doctors (as grateful as we are for them and their knowledge) don't know everything. We were told 4-6 months and we got 11 years...there is always hope. I know that you will cherish this mother's day even more then usual...my love and thoughts are with you.

Your mother is so amazing to me. What an example she is. She helps all of us instead of having a major nervous breakdown. (But when she does, we will all be there for her!!)
She will continue to do well, Amanda because of her spirit. So keep doing that positive thing you are doing. (That was some advice.)
Your family is so good.

We are all here for you! I can't imagine what you are going through, but I will continue praying for you and your family that you will have some peace and comfort during all of this! I do know that the Lord is mindful of us and really does give us the strength to do things we never thought we could or even want to. Rely on Him! You are such a trooper!

Amanda, I am just catching up on everything. I am very sorry to hear the news. I think you are completely right that it is all about perspective. I am sure it is hard to stay optimistic all the time but that is great that you have time to spend with your wonderful mom. Things will work out how they are supposed to and your right the Lord does have a plan for each and everyone of us even if it is had for us to understand. I will keep praying for your family. You have a lot of strength!
